As far as corrosion is concerned, Hastelloy C2000 Slip On Raised Flanges are resistant to corrosion caused by chlorine and other halides (including pitting, crevice attack, corrosion cracking, and crevice attack). Hastelloy C2000 Flanges are more adaptable than other Hastelloy alloys, due to the addition of copper (1.6%) and the increased ratio of chromium and molybdenum. As a result of the addition of copper, C2000 flanges are more resistant to hydrofluoric, sulfuric, and diluted hydrochloric acid temperatures. This alloy, called Hastelloy C2000, is a special alloy which is designed to secure chemical process equipment under a variety of conditions, including streams that are contaminated with ferric ions. This alloy combines the outstanding resistance of Hastelloy C276 to oxidizing mediums with its superior resistance to non-oxidizing environments.
During heat treatment applications, Hastelloy C2000 lap joint flanges are often used. This alloy has a very low carbon content, and a high nickel content, which makes it much stronger than any other flange. It can withstand acidic environments and can also withstand the action of halides. In addition, Hastelloy C2000 Flanges are always free from crevice cracking, corrosion, pitting caused by abrasion, chipping, and edge breaking.
As compared to other steels or alloys, Hastelloy C2000 Flanges harden easily. Cold treatment may be required in several stages to make the flanges harden. These flanges are very ductile, so it is easy to weld or form them. They are also highly resistant to chloride-bearing compounds, making them ideal for industrial applications such as petrochemical plants, heat exchangers, etc.
Stainless steel blind flanges made from Hastelloy C2000 do not work harden as quickly as most austenitic stainless steels. It is likely that they will be subjected to several stages of cold work, followed by several annealing steps.
