Nitrogen and molybdenum increase the corrosion resistance properties of this alloy, making it the most superior grade of stainless steel alloy. Besides its corrosion resistance property, nitrogen in this alloy also improves yield strength. 

Moreover, SMO254 Buttweld Fittings are stable at high temperatures. They are also easy to manufacture and weld. SMO254 Buttweld Fittings have many essential features that make them suitable for a variety of applications. Our fittings are resistant to uniform corrosion, pitting corrosion, and crevice corrosion. This material usually has a yield strength exceeding 300 MPa. The SMO 254 Pipe Fittings are considered a valuable asset for use in a variety of industrial environments due to these reasons alone. What makes this austenitic grade stainless steel special is that its PREn value ranges between 42 and 44. The Pitting Resistance Equivalent, or PREN, refers to the resistance of a material to pitting. As a result of the alloy's PREN value between 42 and 44, it indicates that it has a high resistance to pitting corrosion. As a result of its resistance to crevice corrosion, the SMO DIN 1.4547 Pipe Cap can be used to close hydraulic or pneumatic pipes and tubes.

At ambient and subzero temperatures, the alloy exhibits excellent notch ductility. As a result of the high molybdenum content of stainless steel grade 6% Mo, these fittings can be used successfully in a variety of applications as an alternative to austenitic stainless steels, particularly grade 316, which has superior properties compared to grades 300.
