One of the four commercially pure titanium alloys, Grade 2 titanium has a strong resistance to oxidation. In the presence of oxygen atoms, the free titanium atoms react to form a strong adherent oxide layer on the surface of the ASME SB348 Cp Gr2 Titanium Bolts and Nuts. This oxide layer prevents the passage of free oxygen atoms to the surface of the metal, as it acts as a barrier between the air and the Titanium Grade 2 Fasteners.

 As the metal beneath the adherent oxide layer remains uncorroded, the threaded pipe of titanium alloy grade 2 has a considerable resistance to oxidation, and the presence of this layer provides it with a moderate degree of resistance against mildly reducing environments as well. 

Additionally, having this oxide layer increases the metal's resistance to neutral, oxidizing, and inhibited reducing conditions, as well as increasing its resistance to most neutral, oxidizing and inhibiting reducing conditions. ASTM B348 UNS R50400 Bolts exhibit excellent seawater resistance, just like other commercially pure titanium alloys.

As a result of this material being able to resist atmospheric corrosion in seawater, DIN 3.7035 Stud Bolts are considered as an efficient solution for the application of marine engineering to this material.
